Jamtastic!

We are so pleased that we have a supply of jam for sale in the Pop-In made by John Studd. Half the proceeds go to Winton House, the other half to In Ministry to Children. Sales are going so well and no wonder, it is delicious! Come in and buy a jar and know that each spoonful is raising funds for local charities.

Summer Outings for the over 65s

We run outings for the over 65s to various place of interest from March to October. It is a fun and sociable way of spending an afternoon. Here are some of our regulars on a trip to Chichester in the Bishop's Palace Garden. Left to right are Gwyneth Goodier, Naomi Griffiths and Tessa Forbes. If you would like to come along on future trips then please contact Alison Gauld, trip organiser, on 01730 268917.

Memory Cafe birthday celebrations

Winton House celebrated the first birthday of its Memory Café by entertaining the Deputy Mayor at a tea party. A beautiful cake and cupcakes had been baked for the occasion by Sarah Calwell and our guitarist, Richard Barnes, played Congratulations. We welcomed both regulars and new visitors, who joined in the summer songs.

The Memory Café meets on the third Wednesday of the Month from 2pm to 3.30pm for those living with dementia and their carers and family members. The photo shows Jenny Seaburg on the left (trustee of Winton House), and Ruth Sander (Pop-In Volunteer and our Dementia Champion) who co-lead on the Memory Cafe.

We've gone Fairtrade!

At a recent Board meeting the Trustees voted to only stock Fairtrade tea, coffee and hot chocolate in our Tea Room. We are delighted to be helping not only our local community, but those farmers worldwide that need a hand to ensure better prices, decent working conditions and a say in their own future.

Strawberry Tea

Our annual Strawberry Tea was held on a much needed cooler day in our garden here at Winton House. With scones, jam and cream, jugs of Pimms and a string quartet from Churchers, it is an event to say thank you to all of our wonderful volunteers who help in so many ways. Ric Girdlestone, our Chairman, thanked everyone for everything that they contribute and even wrote a poem in their honour.
